After purchasing a well used Dolphin 17 I have found some weird alterations made by former owners. If I take the main up to the top of the mast the boom will come out of the gooseneck slot in the mast. By stopping a foot from the masthead the boom will be below the gooseneck slot. However, the boom is not horizontal with the main up and the outhaul pulled tight. It is about a foot too low at the stern of the boat. Looks like the luff of the sail is too short. I wonder if it is the correct sail for the boat. The sail has had a dolphin insignia in the past. From photos of Dolhin 17s under sail in your gallery the booms are all horizontal. I read somewhere that there is a Dolphin 17 with a cuddy cabin. Maybe the sail I have belongs to a cuddy type boat. Also, the centerboard rigging is non-standard. Mine has a winch to raise and lower the board. It seems to work OK, but is in the way. May be too difficult to correct the winch rig. Looking for knowledgeable help with what to do with the sail arrangement.
