Are there any 'Texas Tornado' owners or past owners out there? I recently purchased a 16 1/2' Tornado and I'm a little puzzled about some of the features. My former boat was a catalina 22 so I have no experiance with this type. I've had it on the water one time now (very little wind) and she seems to be a great little sailer.
#1- What are the two 3/4" holes just below the waterline in the stern?----I plugged them before I took her out just to be on the safe side. #2-Is there any way to lock the keel down while sailing? #3-The right forward below deck wheel and line are for the keel, but what is the left wheel for? The steel cable attached to it goes up through the decking (about 1" aft of the step) has been cut and capped off. But there is still a line around the wheel that terminates in the thingypit at one end and beside the step at the other. Any help is appreciated....Jack

Jack,
I don't have any answers for you but if you search in sailingtexas for Texas Tornado's, the bright red one used to be mine. I rescued it & restored it before selling it. What a cool boat. Kind of wish I still had it. Mine had Elvstrom bailers and I think one drain hole in the transom.
I think the port wheel below decks was for the boom vang or cunningham. Is it line, or cable with a knob at the end.
Congrats on the boat. They were built by John Phillip in San Angelo Tx. I met him several years ago. Neat guy.
David
