I'm replacing the interior of my 1984 Oday 272. I've redone the cabin ceiling with sheet pvc and I'd like to do the interior sides with cedar strips that I've cut from old cedar deck boards.
I've noticed that a lot of boats have strips screw/glued to vertical rails but I'm wondering if I couldn't just glass them in place. My woodworking friend says that I need to screw/glue but I don't think there is enough depth in the hull side to accept a screw, and I just cringe at the thought.
Suggestions or reasons why the rail attachment and spacing ?
ps. Boat builders that put carpet in sailboats need to be tied to an anchor and thrown overboard.
Thanks in advance.
