Ahoy all,
Any sailors out there have experience with Choke or Mathis? I am planning on an outing with my WWP 15 within the next two weeks and intend on sailing both of these lakes.
Any information appreciated.
Fair Winds, Skippergeorge...

Choke Canyon is big, 26,000 acres. Lot's of birds and lot's of tree stumps. I haven't been on the lake, but it looks pretty shallow anywhere but near the dam. Nice state park with camping in the Callihan Unit, no camping day use only at the South Unit by the dam. Lot's of birds. I put a couple of videos online so you can see Choke Canyon www.sailingtexas.com/TexasStateParks/ChokeCanyon/Callaham.htmlLake Corpus Chriti is nice, 11,000 acres. Not many stumps in the lower part of the lake. Good sailing when we were there. The south boat ramp in the state park is too shallow, but maybe the north one is better. Can be very windy. Nice camping spots in the state park, and lot's of them, but the RV spots were full on the weekend when we were there in Feb, so make reservations. Here's some videos of Lake Corpus Christi, we went sailing there www.sailingtexas.com/TexasStateParks/LakeCorpusChristi/lakecorpuschristi.html
