I've found a couple of boats/trailers lately that look like a good deal except that the owners seem to have never heard of registration for trailers or boats. These are small boats (14-18 ft), so I can see how someone might just use a boat without actually figuring out whether it is legal.
That being said, before I buy a boat like this, I'm wondering what I would have to go through to make it legal. (I'd be sailing in a heavily patrolled area so legal is pretty important to me.)
