I am polling to see what you folks have for thoughts on planing hull sailboats. Been sailing a displacement hull and want more excitment.... Thinking 16-19 feet so I can take a couple w/ me. I find the Lightening too large, though the Flying Scott looks interesting though have not seen one in person. Want to avoid cats.... An older model with fixer uppers around would suit me best... thanks, Paul in NH

Catalina 16.5? (I would get a mast float though. There's a youtube video of a 16.5 turtling.)

I am also looking for a Flying Scot. I have crewed on a few and they are both a racer with a spinnaker and also a cruiser that will fit 4 adults very comfortably. If you want something smaller a Snipe or Coronado looks fun and both are very fast. They are not as dry as the Scot. You can find a nice Scot for under $4000 and a snipe for under $1800. I have only seen a few C15's and the older ones for around $1000.
