This is sort of a reverse identification. I know the name, just cant find any information. Anywhere! Anyone know anything about this boat? Point me to some information? She has a swing keel and an aft compartment at the stern. Rudder is aluminum. Doesnt the jib look a little small? Yet it does belong with the main. Any information is appreciated. Here's a link to the page with pictures sailingtexas.com/soceanyachts17.htmlThanks, Dan

I think this boat is also called an Islands 17. Built by Ocean Yachts on Long Island. So they must have sold some under their own brand for a while. I've never seen one, but it makes sense. It looks the same.
Later they sold the molds to Sumner Boats??. They renamed it the Sumner Islands 17. In addition, this boat (as well as the Islands 17) is probably a 'splashed' copy of a Tanzer 16, (with an extended reverse transom that gives it a little extra length). The Tanzer 16 was ORIGINALLY called a Constellation 16. Tanzer also built a version with a small cabin called the Overnighter 16.
It seems that this design as 'been around the block' a few times.
