I am looking to buy a boat, small sailing dinghy to teach my kids, Laser 2 /420, but most seem to be in other states, does anyone know anything on the logistics and cost for getting a boat moved from say Florida or west coast to Texas (Houston)? are there any companies that might do this or is it a case of making a road trip?
I am even considering importing from Europe as the car transporters run into Galveston as there is huge availability in UK, have done this before and it was relatively simple

I recently saw an Open Bic at my friend's sailing store (Mariner Sails Wind and Water Sports) in Dallas. It looked like it would be a perfect boat for kids. You can Google their store for phone or email contact information.

There is a Topper dealer in Florida, you may be interested in a Topper for the kids if you like English boats. The Laser II and 420 are both racing boats and really good ways to turn kids off sailing, they should learn on easier boats that don't turn over quite so easily. Here's a link to the Topper dealer, www.sailingtexas.com/stopper101.htmlTo transport boats, Shorty Pen has an extensive list of boat haulers. www.shortypen.com/boats/pocket/trans.htmDavid
