Ok I have looked at sailing as a hobby for a couple of years now, but haven't quiet been able to make the leap. Please forgive me if I offend or insult, but I am not sure how else to ask. I am hoping that by some chance their might be someone here that can put me in touch with someone in my area that would be willing to talk with me and help give me an idea as to what is involved. Possibly even a short lake excursion (I am more than willing to contribute to any fees that may result) to get a better Idea of the requirements.
If you can help me find someone it would be appreciated, please feel free to e-mail me at [ sailing (at) end-user.info ]
thanks
Carl

Obviously for many of us on this site, sailing is a great hobby. I would recommend going out a few times before purchasing anything. Although I went out just once and decided I wanted a sailboat. I'd be willing to offer you a trip around Lake Grapevine, but my boat is in for a bottom job and it will be a month before I get it back in the water. My wife and I will be taking out sailing certification this October.

Carl, Get in touch with the Grapevine Sailing Club. Located at Scott's Landing Marina. I used to be a member before moving to Colorado. They host a sailing seminar every June. Two weekends of classroom and on the water teaching for roughly $100. It's the best and cheapest way you'll ever learn to sail or if you like the whole marina thing. Great people and a terrific seminar. Mark
